The IPA World Congress + Probiota Americas 2024, hosted by NutraIngredients-USA in association with the International Probiotics Association at the Hyatt Regency Salt Lake City, June 10 to 12, will feature world-leading experts to present the latest scientific, technical, regulatory, business and market insights.
The three-day conferences takes a magnifying glass to all-things microbiome-related, what areas are growing and in which direction.
Regulatory updates, cutting edge science, and market opportunity
Day 2 kicks off with a keynote presentation from Prof. Rob Knight, director of the Center for Microbiome Innovation at the University of California San Diego. Dr. Knight’s research combines microbiology, DNA sequencing, ecology and computer science to understand the vast numbers of microbes that inhabit our bodies and our planet.
This is followed by a look at the regulatory landscape across North America for microbiome modulation products, with the IPA’s George Paraskevakos moderating a panel featuring Dr. Cara Welch, director of the FDA’s Office of Dietary Supplement Programs, Victor DeFrancis, an attorney with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and Dr. Brian McNeill, an assessment officer with Health Canada NNHPD.
We’ll then hear about the state of the market from a couple of different perspectives, with presentations by Brandon Casteel from SPINS, Will Cowling from FMCG Gurus and Prof. Denise Kelly from Seventure.
This is followed by a networking session and the ever-popular round-table lunch discussions (see below).
The afternoon session kicks off with a presentation by NutraIngredients-USA’s Stephen Daniells on research from the Brightfield Group commissioned by NutraIngredients-USA that explores consumer attitudes and understanding of pro-, pre- and postbiotics within the context of gut health and overall wellness.
We’ll then shift gears a little and hear from representatives from Kroger/Vitacost, iHerb and Whole Foods Market about what all brands and ingredients suppliers need to know regarding these retailers’ quality initiatives.
Our breaking science session will feature presentations from ADM’s Dr. Richard Day, the winners of our Scientific Frontiers and Cargill’s Dr. Justin Green.
Day 2 finishes with an exciting session about healthcare practitioners and how brands and branded ingredients suppliers can better engage with this influential community for education and building consumer trust and confidence. This session will feature Jessica Simonis from the Life-Space Group; Dr. Dan Merenstein from Georgetown University; Dr. Emanuele Chisari from Parvizi Surgical Innovation; Dr. Chris Oswald from Nestlé Health Science; and IPA's Sandra Saville.
After a full day of learning, attendees can then join their peers for the Probiota Social Evening, hosted by NutraIngredients-USA.
Networking & roundtables
The day is not all about speakers and presentations. Attendees will have the chance to grow their networks via speed networking and our series of roundtable lunches. Attendees can join the tables hosted by an expert from industry or academia who will lead an informal discussion on an industry hot topic. Join the table that suits you best, subject to availability.
